 We are a small family owned and operated business in Akron Ohio USA. The roots of our company date back to 1932 when a young Elmer Greathouse opened his first Radio Store in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio under the name of C&G Radio. That name stayed the same until 1964 when it was officially changed to C&G Radio & TV, ironically that is the same year I began working there and remained for nearly 30 years. The C&G name lived on until 1997 when the second Generation of the Greathouse family and owner, Elmers son Bob, finally retired. In 1995 I left C&G but my lifelong friendship with the family continued and when Bob closed the doors for the last time in 1997 I was there and said farewell to a legacy. It was at that moment I decided I was not going to let a lifetime of knowledge and expertise and two generations of N.O.S parts and tubes die with a name so with the blessing of my wife Betty, We took the plunge went into debt and purchased the entire parts inventory, tubes, service literature, test equipment and everything else that was C&G. A new name was needed that would indicate the direction I was going to take my new business venture and since I live in Akron Ohio what could be better than AKRON ANTIQUE AUDIO! A new direction and a new location for a continuing legacy with a new name that has been going strong and growing for the last 8 years and now after lots of urging from our loyal customers we are expanding to the World Wide Web.

We are a true "Brick & Mortar" store with a stocked Showroom and a complete on-site Parts and Service Department stocked with tons of N.O.S. parts and tubes from the 20s,30s,40s,50s and 60s and a wealth of original service literature and expertise that was aquired over the years as C&G was at some point in time authorized dealers for many of the brands of the past including Zenith, RCA, Westinghouse, Capehart, Setchell Carlson, Philco and many others as the companys came and went but C&G prevailed and actually outlived most of the brands that were once proudly displayed on our sales floor as a licensed service center for 7 decades.

Akron Antique Audio was formed out of a love for this business, for the Greathouse family, for C&G and for the products that we service, specifically Vintage American Made Tube Electronics. As in the past, Bob still comes in on a regular basis and keeps a watchful eye on things and makes certain that the sevice department stays running smoothly. Today as it has always been as our company motto states we have always been and will always be "Dedicated to the Preservation and Resoration of Quality Vintage Tube Electronics"
